Our next field trip is a visit to Titchfield Haven on Sunday, 6 November 2016. This will be largely hide-based bird-watching around the reserve, with a short period scanning the sea. Park along the sea-wall by the reserve or in the car park behind the Hillhead Sailing Club. Meet outside the visitor centre at 10.00 am. There is an entrance fee for the reserve of £4 or £3.75 for seniors. Recent sightings have included bearded tit, marsh harrier, water rail (can be very tame here) and golden plover. Our visit is only scheduled for the morning, up to 1.00 pm, but the reserve is open to 4.00 pm so you are welcome to stay on longer – there is a cafe there for light lunches.
As we are visiting at a weekend, when it may be busy, we may break in small groups so we don’t swamp the hides.
