It just goes to show, you shouldn’t rely on weather forecasts. Despite an awful forecast for the Poole Harbour boat trip on 13 February and heavy rain early in the morning and during the journey down, the rain soon eased and the sun even put in an appearance. A trip report has been post on the RSPB site – the species list (43) may not be complete and some of the group may well have spotted more birds, but I think we all agree the highlight was the black guillemot seen right at the end of the trip.
Our next field outing is on Tuesday, 16 February to Blashford Lakes, when Peter Smith will be leading. Meet in the Tern Hide car park at 10.00 a.m. and bring a flask and sandwiches if you are staying through until 3.00 pm, or later if you want to stay for the gull roost.
