Solent Bird Studies is a co-operation between a number of statutory organisations and conservation groups (including RSPB) to gather data on how birds use the available Solent habitats. Gaining a better understanding of how wildfowl and waders make use of various feeding and roosting sites should lead to better conservation of these species.
All data collected will further develop an understanding of bird movements and help to identify which sites are important for feeding and roosting in the region. Colour ring sightings will further aid efforts to understand how birds move within The Solent.
