On our stroll round Keyhaven Marshes on 5 July 2016, we were joined by Charlotte and Matt from the RSPB tern project. The long-tern aim of the project is to attract roseate terns back to the Pennington/Keyhaven Marshes as a breeding species. Initially, the focus will be on increasing the common tern breeding success and to do this the plan is to introduce tern rafts to the lagoons in future breeding seasons. The rafts will be built to Bob Chapman’s design as used successfully at Blashford Lakes. Charlotte and Matt asked whether any RSPB New Forest Local Group members might be able to help with assembly of the rafts. No time or dates yet, but if you would be interested in helping, please respond via the contact us form.
